An evening of informal gathering, that’s what organiser Bert den Breker of the Maasstad Hospital Staff Association hoped to create during the Christmas party in the Feijenoord Stadium. And with success. At the end of the year, the staff association had 170 employees. They enjoyed a buffet dinner and various forms of entertainment at Brasserie De Kuip.

The fact that organiser Den Breker chose De Kuip is not entirely surprising. The staff association's treasurer has been going to the stadium for decades, but as a supporter of Feyenoord. ‘I was born in the Feijenoord neighbourhood,’ says Den Breker about his special relationship with the event location. ‘Since my father was a bargeman, I often went to football games with the sailors. In 1970, the year we won the Europe Cup I, and I saw all the matches’.

Something for everyone

Almost fifty years later, Den Breker was once again in De Kuip, this time to organise the year-end party. During an evening of casual getting-together, there was something for everyone. ‘The ladies chatted to each other and enjoyed an extensive buffet dinner’. All the activities took place in the Brasserie. Den Breker explains why this room was chosen. ‘We've been guests at the Brasserie before and we liked it. The price-quality ratio is great’.

Comprehensive consultation

Den Breker, who had previously organised several events in the stadium, notes that extensive discussions were held with the location organisation beforehand. ‘It's about the composition of the buffet and the drinks, among other things’. Other topics were also discussed during the meetings, such as the welcome drink, the layout of the room and the entertainment. The Maasstad Hospital staff association opted for a table magician and a photographer who could print out the photographs immediately. Careful thinking about all the details resulted in a successful event. ‘From the welcoming at the reception desk to the buffet in the Brasserie, everything went beautifully,’ says Den Breker.
