KPN

Playing football in De Kuip: it’s got an enormous attraction for people. This was also noticed by Chantal de Jonge, Senior Event Manager at KPN, when she decided to organise a football tournament for Business Partners in the iconic stadium. ‘The participants looked around in amazement. Like, ‘Am I really on the pitch in De Kuip?’
I appreciate the hands-on mentality of the organisers of the event. As they say, actions speak louder than words’. Chantal de Jonge, Senior Event Manager
On Friday 15 June, some 160 KPN Business Partners walked through the dressing room area of De Kuip. Impressed by the magic of the stadium, the urge to shine on the 'sacred grass' increases. Everything in De Kuip breathes football and that clearly affects their enthusiasm. Even the gold KNVB cup, recently won by Feyenoord, is on display. This chance to be photographed with the shiny trophy was one that many participants jumped at, including De Jonge.

Amazing view

‘I'm not an avid supporter of Feyenoord, but I do come from the Rotterdam region. I have good memories of the stadium because of the successful events we organised here. There's always a nice atmosphere,’ says De Jonge. During the KPN football tournament, there were always smiling faces to be seen. The sixteen teams with Business Partners not only had a great view of the pitch at De Kuip, they also enjoyed a drink and barbecue in style in the Maaszaal.

Actions speak louder than words

De Jonge is clear after the event: ‘I appreciate the hands-on mentality of the organisers of the event. As they say, actions speak louder than words’. ‘Even if I call them a hundred times, they always help me iron out the problems,’ says De Jonge. She also praises the location of the stadium. ‘The stadium is right next to the A16 motorway, with free parking right at the entrance. This is on great reason to choose De Kuip, even though the stadium isn't so centrally located in relation to the rest of the country’.

According to De Jonge, the most special moment of the afternoon was the awards ceremony. ‘Suddenly Ben Wijnstekers was standing next to me on the pitch. I don't know how he got there but, of course, I was pleasantly surprised that he came to award the prizes’. This provided a special conclusion to the sports event of the day, which she believes is a good indication of how proactive Stadium Feijenoord is when organising an event.
